I really like it... mm...
Chopin's piano pieces are versatile enough to alter interps. I think he did a good job.
my favorite noctune! just beautiful!
very good sound but poor interpretation!
Bravo! You play this nocturne extremely beautifully. I really enjoy listening to your singing tone.
Sorry, the piece is very very beautiful but you didn't played it so good. I performed this piece in 2 weeks after 8 months of piano, but it's no problem... You shall repeat you. Good luck and go on studying piano. R. Clayderman
What a delight for the human soul, I can almost forget the world. Thank you for allowing me to rest my weary self for a while.
this is one of my favorite peices to play...tone quality is so critical...i think his tone was a little off which is why he maybe rushed it a little. u might not notice as a layperson, but there is a point @ 0:55 where chopin actually asks u to play 25 notes evenly in the right hand while playing 13 in the left....talk about creative rhythm!
All right then, I misjudged you. I apologize.
Well.. actually I'm not one of those who only worry about the physical appeareance of others... I loved the piece and even more the way he played it but I was really bored of writing in many pieces things about them so I just came up with this stupid comment...
My mum really likes this piece. If ya wanna play it search it on google.Thx!
i love this piece
Of course you don't comment on the beauty of the piece and how well he played it. You only worry about how physically attractive he is. Typical.
very nice though I prefer Pires a bit more.
wow. its so beautiful. i love listening to you play this piece
HY DIDN'T YOU TAKE A LOOK TO THE CAMERA!!!!! you seem to be hot but you don't look!!!
The Chromatism and Napolitan 6th gives such a dramatic touch
very sensitive interpretation
this song is my favourite piece. always.
o.o my hearts bleeds, this song is just beautifull in all its ways
though they say no.2 is more famous, ive always liked no.1 better
This is one of my favorites..!! Beautiful but powerful at the same time-!! Very well interpreted.. I really envy ur long fingers!! :)
Wow, this is one of the best interpretations of this nocturne I've ever heard! So peaceful and graceful, without false bravura etc. And his rubato has so much taste I think. Really fantastic playing, thank you. 5stars
lol YOU FAIL
It's not a song.
I never said it was easy, that is why I was outting it in quites, it was all the other people critisciscing, mayybe those remarks have been removed by now, if you had read the rest if what I said, i DID say. 'If only i could play like that!' Thank You....
This song is quite far from easy. It's quite a subtle piece. But that's probably why it's so good..? ;)
I like how he makes the bottom note of the bass sound like pizzicato strings.
please don't try and stifle the opinions of others. i don't know if you are a musician at all. but as a classically trained musician i can say that music is all about interpretation, rubato though a major player in the writing and playing of expressive music, if used excessively can be counter-productive.
My favourite piece, no matter who says how 'easy' it is - or whatever critiques ther are - if only I should play so well. Bravo to you Vadim. Eveyrone is a CRITIC - post YOUR vids then!
maybe your interpretation is to not use rubato. please don't critize another's interpretaion just because u dont play it that way
I don't agree entirely with you. People change opinion with the time. I think the "best" interpretation is one that explains completely the music - the music, all the ideas - so that when you listen to it you know exactly what the music transmit to you (although you can't really explain it in words, because Music is a language by itself) and why the composer rote exactly this or that note, phrase, duration, etc. This don't change with the time and the "right" way of playing should is this one.
I LIKE CHOPIN . EU GOSTO DE CHOPIN .
However, nicely played
I agree, he's using rubato in evey phrase. Especially the part in the middle is anoying, WAY to much rubato
I worship Vadim. he's obviously a genius of interpretations, he plays like apollo sent him, for what I know he's got like 20 yrs of education and has performed on stage since he was little, but most of all I worship him for sharing his most precious work with us on youtube, letting us enjoy it and critisize on his rubatos.
This really seems the only more or less objective criterion. However, even more objective thing is time: people may have bad taste etc., but only things which live through time are objectively good, e.g. Bach, Mozart. imho.
If it contents you to think this way, then you are free to do so.
there is no "right" way to interpret music. there's just the way that pleases many people, which will make you popular, and then there's the other, which won't.
Mr cynic150, why make the classic mistake of trying to steer "the right way" instead of just jump into the sea, let the waves carry you? I think Vadim has a remarcable sense for timing and pulse in all his playing and I believe Chopin trusts musicians like him who are honest to themselves, searching for whats needed to make it beautiful not just "tasty" effects. I feel as if this nocturne helped Chopin to breathe, it even helps me think he's still breathing.
In answer to VivaChihuahua, rubato (robbed) is when the performer gets slower and then faster to accentuate the shape of a phrase, roughly speaking. This must only be done occasionally and with a sense of taste.
whats rubato
I agree with cynic150. The overuse of rubato just breaks the flow of the phrase.
Why do you write 'causes the listener'? I am a listener and this interpretation doesn't cause me anything like that and all this explanation about rubato is just an empty sound for me. You should have written 'causes cynic150', that would be true
this pianist is very musical and has a good technique. However, he makes the classic mistake of making a rubato in EVERY bar. This causes the listener to feel sea-sick at the least. He obviously has not heard the right way to do it, e.g. Rubinstein.
This is a genuine, lovely rendering of one of the best Nocturnes. Thanks for posting it. -Sylvester
I love the interpretation by Dang Thai Son best. I just wonder if anyone has listened to that one. Truly soulful and beyond description!
I think he did a great job of my favourite piece, A+
Not a difficult piece to learn, it was my first nocturne. A bit harder to play well though. He did a nice job here but I prefer it a bit faster interpretation. Great balance between the hands, rubato here, weighting all very nice. Hard to go wrong with Chopin
Method Acting? Uh.....no. Let the notes speak for themselves.
