I found this video well done. I especially enjoyed being able to follow it better than most. It is pertinant for where I am at as a laymen.

The extract feature is available on photoshop version 5.5, version 6, version 7, CS, CS2 and CS3. If the extract feature is grayed out then you might be using an image mode that is not compatible with the extract feature. Under the menu IMAGE - MODE make sure that 8 bits per channel is selected and that the mode is RGB, CMYK or GRAYSCALE
I don't have Extract!why?
Great video, really helped, saved me alot of time! ;P
CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!!!!!!! You did an excellent job and it is great to have this FREE class here, much easier to follow your steps than to read a book and follow pictures. THANKS AGAIN. I am sure that you are helping a lot of people.
this is surely one of the best tutorial
Best extraction tutorial ever! Thank you very much!
this is great :D thank you
Very helpful!!!! Thanks!!!
This was very helpful!!! Thanks!!!
If there is NO extract in the Filter menu then you are probably using an inferior version of photoshop. The extract feature is available on photoshop versions 5.5 6 7 CS CS2 and CS3. If the extract feature is grayed out then you might be using an image mode that is not compatible with the extract feature. Under the menu IMAGE - MODE make sure that 8 bits per channel is selected and that the mode is RGB, CMYK or GRAYSCALE
what if there is no extract under the filter file?
thanks you so much!!!!!!!!
the edges still look jagged around the hood of the kid and the shoulders&the kids arm... hmm. interesting way of doing it though, i always use the polygon lasso and modify my selection to smooth the edges. normally works out pretty well. 5 stars for showing me another way to do it, i'm such a closed minded photoshopper.
When you first open the extract window the only tool available is the highlight tool. Use this to create an extractable area and the paint bucket and eraser tools will become available. Fill your desired area with the paint bucket tool then the two adjustment tools also become available. If you have have gaps in the border of your selection, when you use the pain bucket tool the whole screen becomes filled... the two adjustment tools will not be available if this happens - Hope this helps.
it's very detailed but i only got to the step of highlighting and filling cuz when i went to clean it up with the buttons on the side of the extract screen they weren't "clickable" what did i do wrong? could you help me?... besides that problem, it was a real time saver thanks! DO reply to my question please! :]
Thanks ;) Awsome tutorial, very much needed!! you saved me hours of work! 10/10
Thank you soo much!!
Thanks ;) Good tutorial 5/5
thank you now i know what to do
If you are using the default settings then everything that is not blue should be removed when you click on 'OK' in the extract window. Make sure that you are not viewing another layer beneath... try turning off all other layers to check the state of the actual extracted image layer. Hope this helps
when I clicked ok my background didn't disappear :S ..it shows it on the layers legend...but not on the actual image.... does anyone know what's wrong ??
wow, i tried all of these steps, and the picture turned out fantastic!!! Thank you for this tutorial! It works so well!
