This short documentary offers a unique and intimate perspective into the thoughts of a Moroccan imam and his wife as they discuss their romance. They describe their thoughts about how to build a deep, trusting, and enduring relationship in this film that shows the specific ways the Islamic faith relates to the universal concepts of love and respect.

Jehane Noujaim is the director of, among other films, the award-winning documentaries Control Room and Startup.com. Raised in Cairo, Egypt, she attended Harvard University and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Visual Arts and Philosophy. She has worked for MTV's News and Documentary Division as a segment producer for the series Unfiltered, and as a director and cinematographer on films such as Born Rich, Only the Strong Survive, and Down from the Mountain. In 2006, Noujaim won the prestigious TED Prize, an annual award in which the recipients are granted a wish. Jehane's wish -- to create a day in which the world comes together through film -- was the catalyst for Pangea Day.

I enjoyed his comment that the transcendent nature of their relationship expanded to include all others. That's paraphrasing what he said, but whether he knows it or not, he's a Renaissance man. I still shun all the religions of the world, though. Just because some of the flowers are sweet, doesn't negate the fact the tree is rotten.

awesome! I wish I could see more relationships that're based on respect and love. =) It's the generalization of the negatives that biases peoples' views towards the whole population of Muslims. Although I'm not Muslim, I dislike this widespread prejudice. Even though almost no one is free of biases, one shouldn't have 'hate' towards people. The bible says so too. Doesn't hate just beget more hate? =(

this man says beautiful words about the nature of a loving marriage and loving his fellow brothers and sisters of the world and all you have to say is "grow a beard"... seriously, do you even realize how trivial you sound? Any fool can grow a beard (unless you happen to be native american...guess Allah doesn't care for them tho), but only a man with a free mind and god (Allah) in his heart speaks so openly of love. love and take joy.

He was more or less talking about the way that he and his wife met and what stipulations they agreed upon for a decent co-existance. They agreed to be "open books" so as to always address issues as they arise. his wife mentioned that he would drop everything until all matters are resolved. I pray that when i get married I can have a similar relationship. hope i helped from a GT bana to a trini man. respect!
