On February 18, 2001, Dale Earnhardt, one of NASCAR's greatest drivers of all time, died after crashing on the last lap of the Daytona 500. After that race, Kevin Harvick became the new driver of Dale's Goodwrench car, which changed its number from 3 to 29.

Kevin Harvick would win his first race at Atlanta Motor Speedway in just his third career start in the Winston Cup (now called Sprint Cup) Series. Harvick would beat Jeff Gordon by 0.006 seconds at Atlanta.

Later that year, Harvick would win the Busch (now called Nationwide) Series Championship and finish 9th in the Winston Cup Series despite not racing in the horrific Daytona 500. Ever since the 2001 NASCAR season, Harvick has quickly become a threat to the circuit.

Now for anyone who thinks that Harvick is an overrated driver who drives in the Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series to win more money and boost his ego, you obviously know NOTHING about NASCAR. You don't suck if you won the 2002 IROC championship. And besides, there is NO other driver who can equalize Dale Earnhardt, so if you blame Harvick for ruining Richard Childress racing, you're obviously wrong.
