Wow if Matt Frewer really did that show live I wanna know how unless they had prechosen questions that dave would ask and recorded max's responses to them later. If it was live I wanna know how that was done lol
I lov lov lov love this guy guy guy!!!
borrowed? he never gave it back...
We sure have come a long, long way!
dude...i was like 3yrs old when this shit came out, the show alone tripped my devloping brain out!
Max Headroom is the FIRST LSD blotter I ever dropped. WHEW that was some shit back in the 80s
The one difference between this and Jim Carey is that this guys character is freaky looking and because of that I don't laugh. I'm just freaked out completely. So Jim Carey made this style better. Also Carey has a certain presence on screen this guy doesn't at all. He's creepy and above all boring.
Well DEERRRRRR ! ! !
Thats not Jim Carey!!!
Poor Matt Frewer. I thought this was so cool when I first saw the old Coke ads. Then they just ran him into the ground with shows and movies and lame junkets like this. But Jim's the same age as me, and if someone asked me to be 'really plastic and superfluous' - I'd think back to old Max myself, and say 'eureka!' Matt looked great, but Jim acts it better. Now if a Hollywood hack casts Jim as Max in a new movie... Maybe Matt could be his dad?
Good point about Jim Carrey. Same exaggerated manic speech, followed by the near whispers as a punchline.
I'd like to see Max on Space Ghost. He's in a tv already.
Ooops, yes, you're right : Videodrome. So welcome to the new flesh ;-)
This is one of the few things from the 80s that they should bring back. Youtube is the perfect medium for Max!
Surely you mean Videodrome?
they should bring max back.
I used to think he was an animated person, until I saw that.
I agree. I never knew Maw until now, and he's so fresh. Talking to a TV screen is strange, it just makes me think to SCANNERS from Cronenberg ;-)
heres another max headroom quote... "Paris where only the river is seine" :)
wow thanks for the info!
Actually he wasn't animated, just some clever make-up job and plastic suit ;P
Exactly. Matt Frewer.. I see him in other shows and I still hear Mm M M Max Headroom. Ever wonder if Eskimos ever get tired of their weather forecast?
It was a UK production called "20 minutes into the future". Based on TV ruling lives. There were pirate tv stations, like the UK had radio stations in the 70's. Max Headroom got his name from a chase scene that involved getting clouted by a carpark boom gate which had on it "Max Headroom 2.3m". They transfered the personality of a reporter into a computer, eventually plugging it into a transmitter and began winning ratings. Even when the major station went porno early.. Max won the ratings.
MERVMERVMER!
NO!!!! HAHA!!!! No current twist or "New And Fresh" additions. That always ruins things. Consider the "New And Fresh" twist they try to put on all the TV show or Movie Remakes. It always ruins things. They just need to bring the original max back, just the way he was. :)
forgoet about this fella, but after watching him on here, I think its time he was ressurected and given a 21st century twist. he was in the future when it was transmitted in the 80s, now we are. it time Max joined us again. PS I have all the shows on VHS :)
thanks!!
Ebay possibly. TO people contacting COKE. They're going to tell you that COKE no longer has the rights to him, only ABC does. But just bombarding them with email will still generate some sort of interest in him. Heck contact ABC and tell them the same thing. It has to be the Matt Frewer Max, any other knock offs are just horrible.
there are no full episodes on youtube. know any other place?
Type in Max Headrooom on Youtube and you'll get back a ton of stuff. There was a movie in 1984 that's nearly impossible to find. Try Ebay. Then the TV show was created in 1986-1987. He was created in 1984 despite what they at VH1 said on their 80s show.
what the hell was max's show about? did celebrities ever appear on it? does he always glitch and talk weird like that? is he always animated? is the background always like that? Why??? this kind of creeps me out but even so i want to watch it. do you know where can i watch a full episode? thanks!
Everything in the 80s kicked a** and was so much better than anything we had in the 90s or today. You say it's a bit before your time. Go to Retrojunk dot com and poke around there for some super cool things from the 80s.
A bit before my time this, but absoulty hilarious. Max Headroom KICKS ASS!!
your sue? nice to meet you Sue.
Wow, nice find. Thanks for uploading it--really makes me feel nostalgic toward the 80's.
1984
Max was out in 1984.
i think max headroom came out first in the uk in 1985 and im sue this interview was in 1986 not 1984?????
Thanks for putting this one back up...I saw it the night it aired and untill you posted it...had not seen it since. Bra.....vo!
WRONG ABCRE2 , it was 1984. I remember it well.
And yes, it was 1984 good call :) Well it was 1984 that Max Headroom was introduced. MTV got it wrong when they said he came out in 1987 on their VH1 80s sepecial. 1987 was when the computer junkie started disapearing into the mainframe.
1984 and they were this creative back then! :)
