Kako bi proveo neformalni globalni test poštenja, najčitaniji časopis na svijetu iskoristio je mrežu svih svojih izdanja diljem svijeta te zamolio novinare iz gradova s najviše stanovnika u 32 zemlje da ostave 960 mobitela srednje klase na javnim mjestima s puno ljudi.
Lokalni istraživači svake zemlje smislili su i proveli u djelo vlastite testove, promatrajući čitavu situaciju iz daljine. Nazvali su mobitele i promatrali hoće li se tko javiti, a tada, hoće li osoba koja se javi (1) pristati vratiti mobitel, (2) nazvati poslije koji od brojeva koje smo pohranili u imenik, ili (3) zadržati kvalitetne mobitele za sebe.
