The end where he speaks Icelandic... I'm FLOORED! He's so, incredibly lucky!
Yes, I too would teach myself languages monthly and travel and also hit up every casino I encounter as I go along. LOL!
his mental is kind of sick..but sick until gone positif
word. same here.
I am insanely jealous of this man. If I had his abilities, I would teach myself languages monthly and travel.
I just read some time ago that finish is similar to latin by pronounciation or something, not in words or grammar. In the article they said that Finish people wouldn't have as much of a dificult to learn the promouciation, other than that I know nothing more about this. Oh, and it said also that there is over 3000 people that use latin in daily conversation in finland. I don't know if that is correct.
Not in word wise but in pronounciation and the tact in which it is spoken, i think
I wonder how he deals with hexadecimals etc...
Ok, so everyone in here is a polyglot.
Finnish similar to Latin!!! What? Finnish is an Uralic language, as Latin is Indoeuropean. Finnish is totally different from other European languages... Estonian, Hungarian, Sami languages and Finnish are actually related to languages that are spoken in Siberia.
Icelandic really is hard, Ive heard it. But when i was 10, I taught myself japanese over summer vacation when bored. Thats quite fast, but not as fast as daniel could learn it. He's very unique
Latin? Not in any way. None. Mikael Agricola did burrow and tried to assimilate the Italian grammar, order of language, into Finnish. Our language is rather unique, and has no connection with either Slavic, Germanic or Latin languages. Finno-Ugric language. Not your easiest one to master.
I would love to learn Japanese, but as I have no real need for it I will try and learn European languages first, especially now when I've become curious of Icelandic. I guess Latin would be a very good basis for French, Spanish and Italian as this is kind of a main root for these. Also heard that Finish is similar to Latin in some way.
I learnt a fair amount of Spanish, French and German at secondary school here in England, and I have to say, after 11 years of doing French, I was pretty fed up with it, but after having done only 2 years of Spanish, I completely lost interest, and have barely retained any knowledge of it at all. I find Japanese much more interesting, and Ealing, where I live, has a large Japanese population (and a Japanese school), which makes communication with native speakers pretty easy.
Well the hard part is to find the use for japanese, learnt all my languages by communicating with people of the language and it allways went smoothly, tried to do a course on spanish but it didn't work, I found lessons incredibly boring and that killed my interest + couldn't spend much time with books. In the ends it's all about how much you want to learn a thing, my desire for spanish was very modest.
I find Japanese to be pretty easy, actually. I've just finished a two year course in one year, attaining a distinction (full marks in most of the tests), and it wasn't exactly an easy course.
Well my choice would be to learn Icelandic, as I mostly understand norwegian and danish...if realy realy REALY try :) It's fun to be able to speak other languages. I can speak russian, lithuanian, ofcourse english and well...that's it for now, I am giving a shot at japanese, butit's not that easy.
I was thinking of learning Danish, as I have a Danish (well, half Danish) friend, who knows quite a few teachers living in England. Norwegian was also a possibility, and I did look at learning Swedish, but both of them seemed to be a little hard in terms of pronunciation. Maybe I just didn't give either enough of a chance :p
Well I learned swedish in 1-3 months and it wasn't that hard. Swedish is the only scandinavian I can fluently. Having swedish as a basis, norwegian wouldn't be difficult as the two are similar. Danish would be a problem. It has similar words and grammar with swedish, but it's pronounciation is totaly different making it hard to understand in conversations and such. Icelandic takes the price but given the basis I have it would be a little bit easier to understand if I tried to learn.
No problem. In your opinion, what's the easiest of the Scandinavian languages to learn?
Hah, ya okay, kinda got the wrong idea.
Hah, I know, that's what I'm saying. I mean, you can't say that there are no differences at all between Icelandic and Old Norse, but the language has developed in a manner which makes it much closer to the original than the others, which have been influenced by many different countries.
Well actually it is swedish and other old norse languages that changed during the centuries because of the trade routes in europe, icelandic remains pretty much the same as it was in the beginning, while swedish, norse and danish has quite a mix of other languages in them, making them very different from the original.
It's quite separate from Danish, in actuality - due to the distances between Scandinavia and Iceland, the Old Norse spoken by the original Icelanders developed on its own into a language that is, really, pretty different from any other Scandinavian language. Also, SCOTTISH INFLUENCE.
Icelandic is old Danish. Swedish, Norwaigan and Danish is very much the same.. but Islandic comes from Danish.
Wait a minute, is Icelandic related to swedish, I know swedish a little and I think I recognised some words?
"but is he ambidextrous? look he wears his watch on his right hand, which means he uses his left hand for most of the things. but he uses his right hand to write" You can wear your watch anywhere you want. I used to wear it on the right hand too and I write with my right hand only. I haven't had a watch for years thought, they allways got broken... What makes Icelandic so difficult to learn?
He's like the stereotypical, annoying, creepy nerd who seems to have a sense of humor that no one understands. lol.
Ok thanks for answer but the capital of estonia is writing as Tallinn not Talinn and I know very good where is iceland.
oh ok, sorry, mea culpa. :) My best girl friend is from Talinn, and told me the estonian language is unbelievable complicated. :)
Nope read the info " He particularly likes Estonian"
Icelandic dear, not Estonian. from the country called Iceland, a big island south of Greenland. Slainte.
eesti keel,eesti keel,eesti keel
The guy who "tweaked" with Pi is really annoying, no?
he should start painting, would be a great artist also i think;-)
He likes estonian language? i am estonian and i can prove it
yooooo it's unbelievable. but is he ambidextrous? look he wears his watch on his right hand, which means he uses his left hand for most of the things. but he uses his right hand to write. hmmmm mysterious...
Genious genius. I think i have tapped into something similar only many times smaller in actuall usability.
totally mind-boggling! i wanna see what that pie looks like! heehee
No, don't learn Indonesian/Malaysian, since it's too easy it would be just a waste for him. However, those who are not as intelligent as he is are very welcome to learn our language:)
why do ppl always have to talk abt god with awesome ppl like these? Have you ever figured out that maybe, just maybe, they have done without his help?(if he exist or not)
Damn, I wish I had a that those language skills.
i guess that means people with learning disabilities are cursed by god? or maybe "god" has nothing to do with it.
Yeap, I second setanmilis. Learn Indonesian, it's easy to pick up. And try up Mandarin =)
