i think its a 3 speed automatic. don't know if its got overdrive or not. i think its a 2.8L V6. and i've heard they are junk. no power, and possibly pieces of shit too. But its free! thats true, and that really is all that matters. i don't know much about GM stuff myself. i know that in the 60's they had Big Block Large displacement V6's. over 400 cubic inch V6 engins. for larger trucks. that would be cool to have.
no you didn't mention that...sounds good! so what's in your fleet right now? it's unfortunate it's the GM V6...but still if it's free....is that a 3 speed automatic? they never sold that engine here so I don't know very much about them
hmm I can't think of many 52hp cars if you're into the style and small cars....Citroen do a good range right now you'd love Alfa Romeos....their diesels are about the best and they're so much fun an Alfa Romeo 147 1.6TS you'd like....about 10 seconds 0-60 (so not too slow, not too quick)but they're beautiful and handle great :) and Alfas depreciate hard so they're reasonably cheap I want a 147 GTA...the 3.2l V6 with 250hp.check them out...they're great :)
Did i mention that we got a free 86? cherokee? GM v6 (instead of a straight AMC 6 unfortunatly) it ran and all, then the dude tried to do a valve adjustment on it himself, and did it wrong, and never got it running again. so all we have to do is get them right, and the beast will be viciously romped! for sure.
i'm really into tiny 4 or less cylinder cars... air cooled especially. and anything manual! there are so many awesome small cars over there, probably with hardly any power, which i'm 100% down with! the 86 vw diesel jetta, pumping out 52 HP brand new is honestly the slowest car on the road always. and i love the whole situation. though i'm sure a 52 HP car from over there would be smaller and way quicker then my jetta. the more round, curvier style of the cars over there rocks too
just trying to think of cars here you'd like...I know you like diesels but diesels are worth a lot unless they're not in a state to run...and most cheap diesels here aren't running you'd love the Vauxhall Astra VXR but they're expensive I know! the MG ZT260...that'd be right up your street 4.6l V8,rear drive, limited slip diff, manual gearbox and long wheelbase and the ZT190 you'd like....but only the 260 is rear drive.they're all great fun to be honest,we have very little that you don't
wow....so that $5000 (or so) that's being asked is a bit over.I only ever met one guy over here with a Ramcharger-wealthy guy who loved American stuff..used it to tow his mega done up Wrangler that was about 5 years back though haha in honesty....not many awesome cars here.very few.the best cheap cars here are Cherokees! the Jaguar XJS used to be fantastically cheap though and some XJ6s still are you'd have fun driving some of our cars but probably less fun than the stuff you already have
i've never been there. it would be cool to check out though. never been much of anywhere. right now i'm about 555 miles away from home, visiting a cool person, but thats very rare for me. i'd like to see the awesome cars over there that i've probably never seen, and don't even know about... check out some junk yards and stuff like that. drive something really small and quick. i'd probably pay 800 bucks for that ramcharger, because of the 440. its probably worth about $2400 over here...
ahh man. it was getting bad over here for a while there. probably will go back up again soon. but it messed up the economy bad... and i'm supprised the government didn't do something severe to counteract that early on... because the less money people make, and are spending, the less money those rich greedy bastards are hording. it was i think $5 something for diesel at one point, and $4 something for petrol. right now its lower then its been in years... way lower $1.70 petrol $2.35 Diesel
it's about $6.35/gallon-£4.35 more than it sounds because of the exchange rate diesel is about $7.10 how much would that Ramcharger be worth to you? btw have you ever been to the UK? the other thing is that they're not practical here....too big,no spare parts, and people would hate you for owning it LOL
Yeah, i'd never go for one of those post 81 ramchargers... if the tops don't come off, i don't really like them. though i had that one. yeah, shit thing was alot of fun. a cummins ramcharger would have been the best! strait 6 diesel blasting around. thats alot of money for an 86 ramcharger... though a 440 would be awesome! Whats petrol cost over there right now?
never seen this Blazer before Tom...seems pretty sick! is this still around? makes me sorta wish Chrysler had done a Cummins Ramcharger/Trailduster although they're still amazing anyway :) a 318 V8 that goes on forever right through to the 440 big block...can't really complain! there's an '86 Ramcharger on sale in the UK with a 440 and a 3 speed...tempted but they're too big and the fuel's too expensive here....also it's up for £3250 and it's not worth that in the US
swapping to a 6.5 turbodiesel isn't a bad idea. Sure, they don't have the aftermarket performance of the dmax, but it'd be a LOT easier swap, and they do have some parts for them. Just make sure to keep the egts in check.
i'm with that dude to an extent. I'd say, NO MATTER WHAT, do not get a blazer with an automatic if you plan to go romping with it. They Just cannot handle it. This 6.2 had PLENTY of power for romping. 350's do have more power though. and they may last longer too. 6.2's go through alot of head gaskets. I really like 6.2's, i don't care too much for 350's though. they are all over the place. with the cost of diesel now-a-days, you might pay more for fuel. i wouldn't expect to get 20 MPG.
For fuel mileage yes. Speed no. The 6.2L you'll find in Blazers have 130 hp and 240 ft lbs and get around 20-22 mpg. I think the 350's had about 185 (ish) hp and 270 ft lbs and get about 13 mpg.....
nice.... im thinking of getting one of these blazers w a 6.2 diesel are they better than the 350s?
i know
Mechanical. deffinatly the way to go. whats indirect about the injection? it goes into the head, and it seems like it would go right into the cylinder.
rattle rattle rattle,, shes a diesel aflac.
indirect injection head. is she mechanical pump or electric
IDI? i? direct injection? whats the I for? that crazy spiderlookin injection pump? Engine
IDI? i? direct injection? whats the I for? that crazy spiderlookin injection pump? Engine
jerkrod, your still wrong man. why don't you appologize about that?
383 cid diesel idi motor
That was bad ASS! Shit must have been fun.
ya i'm talking 1990 and newer
except for a whole shit load of old dodge trans. they used to have the best automatics that existed. and i've had nothing but incredible luck with the np 435. i've had two. they rock, with all the old dodge transmissions, they are built really strong, and last forever. my one friend had a 5 speed newer dodge 1 ton, and that transmission got rebuild like 4 times, and its still got problems.
rattle rattle LOL got to love those home jobs
24 volt still?
except for the NV4500 5 speed manual trans used in the one ton trucks. this is the only trans dodge has used that was any good.
Ok thanks! Me and my dad are going to buy a CUCV M1009 (K5 Blazer with 6.2L Diesel ex-Army). But I want to change the exhaust system, but I still don't know what to do, OR Flowmasters, OR no mufflers at all, but I think it's going to be a bit to loud without any mufflers, but the sound is really great! :O :D
the one side had sort of stock looking and sounding exhaust, and the other side was broken off before the muffler. so it was insanely loud from that. deffinatly cool sounding engines!
What kind of exhaust system does this Blazer have? Ore a it just straight pipes?? Sounds really nice!! :D
i don't quite remember, but i think he got around 20. just a guess though. the 6.2L's arn't bad on fuel
what do you get mpg for the blazer
hell no no dodge tranny they're the worst i can tell u several stories of sucky dodges
that would be incredible. Need a stronger trans then though... maybe s 4 or 5 speed from a dodge. and then better rears...
one mod that i love for these trucks is to put the 5.9l cummins in them and then the body will fall apart before the engine
I think your front axle u-joint broke..... tehe
yea.. you were talkin about ur friends blazer he might wanna sell or something for 500 dollars.
Awesome. Next vehicle i'm buying is going to be a k5 =)
you should tarp it or something to keep the rain off of it! am i gonna get a video of my friends video he wants to sell? with the turbo 6.2?
man.. i remember we use to beat the crap out of our jimmy. First big chip of paint came off today. I was a little upset about it. So you ever gonna get a vid of ur friends blazer?
i think the transmission is awesome. nothing wrong with it. just in really good shape i think. 4wd works and all. the steerings all tight and everything. the seats are cool, its this weird yarn looking white and red pattern thing. if you're interested in the beast i can try to get some pictures of the thing. so you know what its all about and all.
i asked him about it and he said 500 bucks. the interior is in great shape if i remember right, and its got these air bag things for raising and stiffining the leaf springs, all 4 springs i think. but the back ones, or the front ones might have a blown line. they have there own pumps that fill them. the cap has the sliding windows i think. really tinted i think. its black. it has the dual headlights, but with the turn signals in the bumper instead of the grill, which looks way better.
well.. if the engines blown. idk.. but if its a really good deal.. ill see what i can do. i live in carlisle. about a few miles away from route 81.
my friend drew, who owned this one, has an 82 in great shape, with a blown up 6.2 in it. i'll ask him how much he'd sell it for. i don't know if you live around here or not. i'm about an hour up Route 611 from philidelphia.
i got a 83 jimmy. just like the k5 blazer there. its a spiting image. with the 6.2L diesel in it. those things can go to hell and back and take another round. we restored mine.. and i want to get the sidewinder turbo kit. which adds like.. 60 hp. 115 foot lbs of tourqe. and a 10% better fuel economy. but if i could fined a deal on a truck that looks fairly good and the price is right.. i would not hesitate to buy another one of these hellians.
i don't know too much about trying to get more power, but i would probably try a different cam, and then a bigger carburator would be some good steps to take. The 6.2 is an awesome engine, but the 350 probably has way more power. you can always jack a turbo onto them though... but i dig the diesel way more though. its built very strong, and gets like 15 miles per gallon or something crazy...
i have an 85 surbuirban, just recently put a brand new 350 into it and a ton of other small parts. I have alot of power but this thing sounds so mean haha makes me want a Blazer with a 6.2litre even more now. Whats a good way to gain more power from the 350 for now tho?
