| 6.5 was the first stock turbo from Chevy. Was the lower powered diesel of its time compared to the cummins dodge or the international ford, But other then the injection pump, a very reliable motor |

| Just put a deposit on one in San Francisco, and found another one in Sacramento. Slow starting was brush fell off. My bad, ready to reinstall, maybe tomorrow, watch this site...Ug |
| GM OWNED Detroit Diesel at the time thats why it says GM Diesel and sometimes Detroit. Look at the old 2 stroke diesels (453, 671, etc.) They say BOTH GM Diesel and Detroit Diesel. Chrysler owns Detroit Diesel now though |

| Some are good and some are bad. Mine has over 200,000 miles runs like new. If you take care of them they last. They are actually good diesel engines but low on power. |

| I guy I knew years ago had a 6.2 diesel in his chevy truck and he had all kinds of trouble with it. Head gaskets, pistons. You name it. I have never been a big fan of Gm's diesels. |
| Corvair was a good car, I agree with you on that. They killed it off far too soon, it had so much potential left for it. I just don't like GM diesels, except for the Detroit 2-strokes. |

| Glo-plugs are good, I think the starter went bad, again. It was a re-man with a broken cable inside. Now it's totally dead. My Suburban cranks real fast, faster than this much newer motor, which has more compression than Sub with 185k! BTW, fuel line has a split, that's why it stalls. But snow is months away, so it'll wait... AEG |
| ya need replace 8 glow plugs in and try again... if that dont work ya need to get that injector pump pressure checked out... if its low... needs to be rebuilt... any fuel line leak needs a whole new line i tried that on my cadillac when i can cut and add rubber hose on it it will run for a few weeks then new leak was found due to salt corrosion hope that helps ya there |
| i got a 1988 6.2 K3500 GMC diesel. needs a whole lotta work but the whole drivetrain is good. has about 145000 miles on it. but diesels will run for ever if u do the maintaince every 3000 miles or so. it has basically open heads. |
