A presentation given in Buffalo State College's ENG354 (Ethnic American Literature) course, Fall 2007. The film's theme is the "Ethnos of Apocalypse," comparing Cormac McCarthy's postapocalyptic novel "The Road" to real-life apocalyptic scenarios - the Holocaust, Hiroshima/Nagasaki, Chernobyl, the Kurdistan gas attacks (Bloody Friday), the 9-11 terror attacks, and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Interspersed with the photos are quotes from the novel.

Music: "Duel of the Fates," John Williams (Star Wars Episode I)
"Sound Life" (Trigun)

Okay, the three of you who decided to waste my time and flame my work:

DID YOU EVEN READ THE DAMN DESCRIPTION?!

This was for a college assignment. It's posted here so that I don't have to eat up space on my hard drive. The assignment was to set up real-life parameters for the events that take place in the book. Let me repeat: REAL-LIFE PARAMETERS, as in when people have faced similar circumstances to the man and the boy. The music was what was available. Deal with it, people.

fucking star wars music..

What does all of these images have to do with a lightsaber duel between Qui-Gon and Darth Maul? What foolishness to label this under McCarthy's novel.

This is probably one of the most pointless videos I've ever seen on Youtube. Terrible. Laughable. Atrocious. The book is brilliant, and this video is an insult to it and Cormac.

i think you are kind of in the right direction. He has already written The Crossing and Child of God. His masterpieces were already made. Then what! The Road. WTF? I know. NCFOM wasn't his best, but it was still great. It's not about anton at all. Reread it and pay attention to Bell's monologues. Sweet Jesus. If the publishers would have let us have the original 800 page NCFOM. The real issue. His new publishers are directing him this way. He doesn't have faulkner's editor anymore. : (
