Sorry, I do not have tabs available for this song. If you are interested in this style, please consider purchasing my instructional video CDs that contain tablature. They are for sale on ebay. Search Keni Lee They will supply you with the same information I use to figure out, and arrange songs like this one. Happy Holidays!
do you have a tab?
Thank you Jord. Usually there is tuning info at the right of the video. Yes, I'm in Open G to match my singing pitch, but I believe you are correct about key of B. RJ would tune up to Open A and capo the second fret. It sounds just like the old 78rpm when you do tune up, but you need lighter strings on the guitar, and I can't sing that high with my baritone voice. I will send you some info. Enjoy.
yeah, very very nice slide action, its smooth and full of feeling as you let the slide creep up to the note. I take it this is in open G, i alwyas thought this tune was in B for some reason? Do you have info on your CD, please write back. cheers Jord
Thank you for your comment. Blues scale 1,flat3,4,5,flat7
this was really good guitar playing and your singing too! :D i have too learn some blues scales after hearing this :D
Thank you. I will send you some information about my instructional video CDs, that you might find useful in learning this style.
Love it! Fantastic voice. I wanna learn to play like this.
Thank you.
Kenilee, Awesome playing as usual.
Thank you.
Like your style Keni! Greetings from Hungary!
Thank you.
Thank you for your comment. Well, I'm not exactly sure but, I believe he stole her last nickel from her nation sack. A nation sack was a small bag a women would wear by her private parts for safe keeping money or other things of value.
Well done bro
A masterful performance...very true to the original. "I know she's gone and she won't be back; she took(stole) the last nickel out her notion sack" is how I remember it... but my memory is pretty dusty :-)
Thank you for your question. This guitar is a 1935 Regal Alhambra M14 Fiddle edge Dobro guitar. I bought it years ago on ebay.
Where did you get that triolian? Could you please PM me?
Thank you for the kind words. Yes, that is the same tuning I'm using for Open G (DGDgbd). I play 5 string banjo sometimes, but my playing is certainly not Bluegrass. It is simply based on my understanding of open tuned slide guitar.
hi, i play banjo but bought a resonator some yrs ago. since stumbleing upon you on you tube i now play it again but with more vigor. i tune kinda like my banjo D G D G B D (i like dees).I love your playing style, your a mellow fellow!
Thank you very much for your comment.
waow that was ....i'm speechless bravo is all i can say 5stars
Thank you for your comments, and your support by purchasing my CD. I fully agree with you, the resonator guitar has a beautiful and interesting tone. In open tuning, the complimentary harmonic drone tones created by all the strings vibrating creates such a full sound. They are in a class by themselves among guitars. When you start working thru the lessons, please feel free to write if you have any guestions. I think with your past knowledge of music you will enjoy the approach. Enjoy.
Hi Keni Lee, I have to echo bisquitpal's sentiments exactly. I've been playing the piano since I was a kid, but started teaching myself to play the guitar when I moved out west and didn't have a piano. Since I recently realized that bottleneck resonator is the most gorgeous sounding instrument EVER, I just bought one and your videos are wonderful. I'm also buying your DVD.
Thank you for sharing this musical idea. It's a great way to get more punch out of the guitar.
Thanks! At last someone who uses the same technique as I learned myself i.e. bottleneck on the pinky and using fingerpicks. If I might humbly offer one tip: Stephen Grossman uses the technique of "spitting", which I copied. It is playing the string at the same time with thumb pick and another finger pick. You just kinda squeeze the string between the two picks. It's great for lead licks like after ".....raining outdoors" as they really sound strong. Meanwhile I'll get my teeth into your version.
Thank you. The Crossroads of Highway 49 & 61 of course. If you search ebay, it is possible you will find a vintage Fiddle edge. Please check out my friend Frank at rebuplicguitars if you are looking for a well made affordable reproduction resonator. Make sure you tell him Keni Lee sent you.
Oh man the more I hear this guitar, the more I'm leaning towards one :) And nice Robert johnson, What Crossroads mate.
Thank you. Please visit my page, and click on "Playlists". The videos are organized for better selection.
simply perfect
Thank you. I'm glad you are finding my lessons informtive. I love this stuff, and it's great to share it with people who are interested in playing this style. Please feel free to write if you have any questions. Enjoy, and thanks again for the kind words.
Hi Keni Lee: Great job!!! what can I say. I fell in love with resonators and began building them with no idea how to play. I've been playing daily and could find no one to teach it. I just played on my own and had some but little success. I've learned more from you in three days than I ever have or would have. Thanks for that. I'm buying your CD and am recomending it to many.Your postings on this site are very generous and you are a gentleman. Cheers from Canada
hahahahahahaha nice
Thank you for your interest. Yes, this guitar is a 1935-1940? Regal M14 Fiddle Edge Dobro (Spider Cone). The headstock reads: Alhambra. It is made of nickel plated brass. It was an Ebay, Buy It now that I bought many years back for $1200
is that a regal guitar?
Thank you. Well, when I went down to the Crossroads one dark, full mooned night at exactly midnight, the Devil said, "Not another Blues player!" "You are the 2378th one this week." "Your soul is not worth a dime these days." He tuned my guitar, played a few Robert Johnson tunes, handed the guitar back to me, and said, "Get the hell out of here before I change my mind." True story.
great job! did you sell your soul, too?
Thank you. Please feel free to ask any questions. In the future, I hope you post some video. Enjoy.
Thank ya man. I used to play electric blues, but i started playing fingerpicking and slide blues and it has helped me 200%. Thank You for all your help. Keep on gettin them blues!
Thank you. RJ is the King of the Delta Blues
Hey man great ole tune.
Thank you. I checked out Jeff Martin and his 7 string reso. I liked Jeff's playing. Seven strings are not new. Jazz players have been using them for decades. The price is a little steep at $3500. National makes a beautiful baritone that has an extra long neck. Someday I'll get one, but for now I already have a full boat. Thanks for the info.
Nice work!! Shine on you crazy diamond! Ps Have you ever checked out the Ellis tricone Baritone reso guitar? I think you would love it!!!!
Thank you for such a nice comment.
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you. I have plans to make this a "How do you play" lessons. It's a great song because the notes that are played, are the melody line that you sing. Please be patient. I'm currently working on the Open G lessons, and this whole project is a long term adventure. So, please stay tuned.
hay keni!! your the man!!!!!! i have just started playing slide and realy enjoying it heaps iv found out i realy like robert johnson and i waz wondering if you could make this into a tutorial please i would realy appreciate it! thanx luv blues
