Look at 3.30 and compare with the famous Tom Cruise "pfffuuiittt" interview ! Could it be that actually Tom Cruise is indeed more fucked up than Iggy Pop ? I believe so.
Hahaha..Iggy's facial expressions in this are hilarious! Love it!
This is PRICELESS!! Thanks for posting!!
I love this fucking movie. The whole thing is so chill.
5:06 :D funny stuff!
anybody know what song is playing on the jukebox?
what year did was this scene filmed?
Waits looks like the guy from hellboy
i love them both....weird & special...i enjoy their songs...music a lots....
Two of my heroes.
bill... ghostbustin' ass... groundhog's day murray!
with some coffee n cigarettes mate
haha man if i saw tom waits and iggy pop hanging out at a coffee shop i'd have a fucking heart attack. i'd sit down and just start blabbing my mouth off about the progression of the blues band and iggy on punk and glam rock and what kind of cigarettes they liked and what they drank, and their opinion on counterculture in the 60s on up and all that shit. man i bet after jarmusch said "cut" they just started having a sweet conversation.
"since i quit i can have one" :D iggy looks a lot alike John Cazale
agreed on Nighthawks, I just bought that cd for the waitstaff at my favorite all-night cafe because they are all so sweet and always let me bum cigarettes. That album just never goes out of style...
Nighthawks...is probably one of Tom's finest recordings. good call.
HAHAHAH its so true
he was already as old as man gets, i think
Tom Waits has aged a lot since this was filmed. Iggy on the other hand hasn't aged since about 1980.
It is.
Man I am so happy I have found this. I first saw this about 5/6 yeas ago. I was home alone late one night, stoned off my head and this short movie came on. I could hardly remember any of it other than Iggy Pop and Tom Waits were in it and it was funny as hell. Fucking great.
Iggy Pop looks like the child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Tom waits sings like someone stuck a fucking ball point pen in HIS throat. Tossers.
The whole point of this would be like music fans sitting around together thinking things like "Hey, what if Iggy Pop & Tom Waits hung out together? I wonder what they'd talk about." And this is it. They're just two normal guys like everyone else. That being said; Waits is the coolest mother fucker on the planet.
iggy's hangdog face is so endearing.
i recommend the Nighthawks at Diner album. and what is up with iggy pop?? what shit is he on, heh. the funny thing here is, the jukebox as you mentioned, the song playing is called Saw Saint or something. it's a waits number. and waits' little flourish at the end gives it away. the entire movie is like a set of inside jokes between friends. wouldnt you want to do something like this witht yr friends?
i guess if you're a tom waits fan, it comes across as one of those gem like moments. especially since he's been in a few jarmusch films from his early days. Down By Law for example. i guess the hallmark of the jarmusch cinema is it's getting-nowhere, moving-sideways kinda feel. many friends i know can't sit through them. and the adlibbed bit about tracheaectomy with a ball-pen, etc - mr. waits in a classic mood.
Looks like of like the place in Tom Waits' I Don't Want to Grow Up video.
iggy: you call me iggy tom: look i'm sorry i'm late jim.
exactly... watching this makes me want to go hang out at a diner at 3 o clock in the morning... and have a long, uncomfortable conversation with someone ive never met....
call me Iggy
What's so great about this thing? Nothing, if you're all about plot. But if you're about great character, dialogue and atmosphere, then what's great is all of the above. What chemistry these two have together, and soooo funny and awkward. Neither of them are on the jukebox. Funny.
what's so great about this thing
i'm a taco bell kinda guy
Haha, I love how weirded out Iggy looks at the beginning when he checks out the diner.
Iggy Pop and Tom Waits... now THAT'S a combination.
Genius, x2, then +1 for the scene.
I'm addicted to tobacco and coffeine because of this movie ;) and I feel good with it. Iggy and Tom- great guys!
"Hmm, he's not on here either..." I love this video!
Are you sayin like I'm a Taco Bell kinda Guy?
Now that we've quit we can have one! love it
I wanna drink coffee and smoke cigarettes with Iggy Pop... He's a totally awesome dude!
...the guy on the left...i cant beleave u dont know who that is u fuckin moron
the guy on the left is a moron
I actually paid to see this film. (Didn't finish it, though.) Yikes.
a ti tambien, sudacaca
'Call me Iggy', 'listen, sorry i'm late Jim...' brilliant. So painfully uncomfortable!lol the exchange of looks after the drummer conversation, love it!!
While auteurs like this director made one good film followed by indulgent stuff, while having a studio deal. My goals are less lofty: I just want the studio's restaurant expense account, and I'll spare people ever watching the film.
Esos estan viejos, buenos son sus recuerdos. la tumba espera a estos señores.
I saw this a couple of years ago ... I'd like to see a coffee room chat with Tom Petty and Bob Dylan.
Music AND medicine - livin' in that place where they overlap (a medical morning). LMAO!
