It started with a piece to be played after his mother's student piano recital. And then he realized he could do a half recital by himself -- whithout his teacher! We had one coaching session. I know an issue I use to have with my Violin before it finally dawned on me is that the difference in humidity between where the piano is and where my Violin is (my home. I would bring my violin to where I was going to preform at least 6 hours before tuning and leave the case open in a safe place. I found this helped make my tuning much more easier. The wood would not be as effected by humidity as I played.

I'm not a violin player, but I have a lot of experience with tuning, being a french horn player and pianist, and your tuning is really not bad at all! I'm sure it could have used a few more days, but you pulled together and have done a superb job! Fantastic! Congratulations.

very nice, you could end the piece, it's just matter of time to make it perfect, tunning is matter of practice :). PD: If anyone has played Resident Evil Code: Veronica, you may notice that he looks a lot like Alfred Ashford :P Congratulations!!

Very very nice. The out of tune do not matter. The important is that you finished the piece in an excelent form.

I´m going to practice this piece for my next concert audition.

eniutubestatodo,well...i just read something that a long time ago,the nobles (i don't really know what they are called) (or ppl in high society) argued about playing something like bach or clementi on a pianoforte..cuz the composers wrote it for the harpsichord and thought that it wasn't fair for the piece itself...something like that..lol XD

Hehehe..yeah..i've heard chopin's tristesse on a violin too!^_____^..it was from an anime called la corad d'oro:primo passo..=]yeah..it urely is a pretty piece for the violin =]

i dont understand very much about violin, but i know that the best music i ever heard was a chopin in a violin, Tristesse. It was so beautiful that i almost cried!So, i think its ok to play chopin in a violin, its awsome!

nice but i dont like when he was tuning his violin up. i found that very horrible but anyway the tune was nice for his age

Yes. Maybe not every piece and maybe not picking every piece up as quickly as these kids, who can just look at the score & play. But if you concentrate on, say just this piece, and play it over and over, and with some pointers from a teacher, you can play this one piece just as well. But Chopin will never let you off easy, even his nocturnes have some crazy scales that will require your fingers fly up & down the keyboard. So some intense practice is required. But practice makes perfect right?

I just watched Midori's performance at Carnegie on Youtube. I take it back saying this piece is not for violin. I was in tears watching Midori. But what a great effort by the kid here! and what a joy it must be for the mom to be able to duet with the son!! He'll need a very expensive violin to make it sound better. Keep playing!!

Nicely played, although I have to say this piece is not really for violin, especially the middle part. But good effort by the kid. The beginning is very beautiful. Keep playing! I'm sure he plays Mozart brilliantly!! Bravo!

its not all piano that is written by chopin there are violin pieces as well

I think that it's an horror to play this masterpiece with a violin. Chopin chose to write it just fot the piano, why do you want to change anything in this genius' piece ?

definitely need lots of work on Intonation before interpreting this piece.. This piece sounds ugly honestly with intonation problem.

Like you need more advice from another armchair musician, BUT intonation will come, so no worries and not a big deal at the moment - What's going to be the hard bit for this young man is giving himself over to the music/composer and to stop worrying about hitting the notes... Question:how are you communicating with your accompanist with you back turned to her? It's a two way street.
